RN. Today is our art immersion day. SF has an incredible mass transit system with buses and two local electric train systems: BART and MUNI so we hopped onto MUNI and traveled to SoMa (south of Market) to see the art exhibits at the Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD) and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)- is that enough alphabet soup for you?
Below is the front of MoAD, which is a contemporary art museum that celebrates Black cultures by exhibiting work by the African diaspora.

This is a work by Corinne Smith showing what she saw under the influence of Silene capensis, African dream root.
Below is a piece called “Oculus” that incorporates hair made by Nafis M. White.

Then we went a few doors down the street to MoMA to see some very special exhibits. For example, I was excited to see that they had two works by Yayoi Kusama. Below is what I saw inside the box called “Infinity Mirrors.”

And here is her ode to pumpkins

This is a color tunnel. On the side that you enter, it looks plain and dark, but after you walk through and turn around, you see this (I mean the colors as well as Felix and Anne).

Here is an exhibit about “The Sound Of Art,” starting with all the psychedelic posters we remember from the ’70s.

A wall of plants…

Below is a special exhibit that is free to anyone who wants to walk in to see. It’s called “Fortuna and the Immortality Garden (Machine) by Kara E-Walker.
After viewing art, we walked into the St Regis Hotel to have drinks at the bar. Just before we left, Anne made friends with the hostess and discovered that if we waited 5 minutes, there would be a special show where a bottle of Moet Chandon would be opened in style. Here it is…
So we enjoyed glasses of a very nice free Champagne!! Great end to a wonderful day!!!

What a great day! I do miss all that art. I LOVE Yayoi and would love to see a piece live. (Have you seen the documentary about her? So interesting.) And love Kara Walker.
Sigh. What an exhausting and wonderful experience. And then champagne at the St. Regis. Such a Felix thing to happen.
Kisses.
