Roarin’ Rogue

RN: For the past 5 years we have been steadily reducing our carbon footprint by buying our Tesla, installing solar panels on our roof, and swapping out an air conditioner and a gas furnace for a heat pump. Today, we blew it out by taking a four hour boat ride 80 miles up and back on the Rogue River.

This is our starting point at the mouth of the Rogue River.

The first thing we did was pass under this gorgeous bridge for US101.

Then, it was all nature. For example, here are two bald eagles perched in a tree.

And, a few miles up the river, we were surprised to see this harbor seal resting on a rock.

These are “ripples” in the river.

I tried to video record part of our trip as we flew down some Class III rapids…

What I couldn’t show was Felix getting drenched by the boat when the pilot would slow it suddenly to purposely have a wave of water come over the boat. I must have been in Felix’s splash shadow, because I got sprayed, but not soaking wet.

We arrived in Florence to stay with Janis and Bill, friends from grad school at UCSD.

Here is Felix in front of Janis and Bill’s beach abode.
