The BIG Day

RN: Kazumi and Evan’s wedding ceremony was today.  I went early to the cottage where the ladies in the wedding party were getting dressed (and sipping sparkling wine/ mimosas) and it was a hub of excitement. The photo below shows Kazumi and me after she was decked out in her wedding dress…

We got snuck into the beautiful outdoor venue to hide from the guests in the fruit orchard and watched while the wedding party danced in, led by Evan and Spencer (a best friend who officiated) lunging in to the theme of Rocky.  After everyone got their yuks in, the music changed to an instrumental version of “Here Comes the Sun” and Kazumi with Felix and me on each side of her, glided in.  Kazumi had such a glowing smile on her face, it made us smile more too. As we approached Evan, I saw that Evan was overcome with emotion and trying to hold himself together.  It made tears come to my eyes and when we came together, we gave Kazumi a hug, Evan a hug, and his parents hugs.  Instead of giving our daughter away, we sealed the deal of bringing two families together!

The backdrop to the ceremony was gorgeous Mt Hood and the weather was perfect.  The food at the reception was delicious and everyone rocked out dancing.  At the end, the bride and groom marched through a column of sparklers held by the guests.  FANTASTIC!!!

FE. I saw my role as mainly not mucking things up..and I largely succeeded. What a great time, what a wonderful enlarged family with Evan, Preston, Tom and Myrna….happiness. Just a few random pics here, I will update when the “official” photographs are available (guests were discouraged from pulling cameras out during the ceremony).

Kazumi and Evan rock out on the dance floor…

Tom and Myrna rocking out too!

Evan and his brother Preston

Awwww…Sam and Brody!

Kazumi and her Aunt Naomi

The backdrop for the reception looked unreal…like we had a green screen with a projection of Mt Hood on it!

  1. Utterly fabulous. All the important parts there and none of the foolishness that gets sold to wedding planner….congratulations. How nice to expand the tribe once again.

    Blessings on your heads.
