stREST Day

FE. We wake up in our beautiful green cottage, our plan is to make this a recovery and rest day. All good so far.

We then drive off to pick up our rental car from Hertz, no problem I think, the Tesla navigation system clearly identifies the location…….wrong, it sends us off into a farm field roughly 8 miles from the actual location at Glacier airport. We track back (oh precious electrons lost), the airport is under reconstruction, but we locate the temporary Hertz center after a bit and our car is still there…all ok again. Rae finds a wine-bistro with good food, and I finally relax again.

RN: BTW- the navigation glitch is not Tesla’s problem but a Google map problem because my iPhone Google Map App marks the same stupid location for Hertz. The folks at Hertz say they’ve brought it to Google’s attention but they haven’t fixed it. Bottom line: don’t trust any map app to blindly lead you somewhere!

Since we are now in 2 cars, and our Tesla is getting threatened by towing since I left it in the front of the airport to help Felix find the rental car counters, I quickly find an interesting place for lunch called Waters Edge Winery and Bistro and tell Felix to meet me there so I can run back to the car. The Bistro is nowhere near any water but in little mall. Still, it’s a small winery that ships in grape must (freshly squeezed grapes) from all over the world to blend and bottle its own wines. The wines have mostly bird names- look at the list below of the white wine flight we tried…Voskehat is from Armenian grapes that are thought to be the original precursor of all wine grapes. American Coot is a Viognier; Meadow Lark a Chardonnay; and Tundra Swan a fine Italian Pinot Grigio. We also try a red wine flight. Woo woo! Wine tasting in Montana!! And good food too (loved the GF pizza crust and GF bread).

FE: Coming back to the cottage with its beautiful garden is great

Here is the view of Foy’s Lake from the garden

and a small waterfall

to end the day we take short hike in the hills above the lake and get rewarded with a view of the Rockies around Glacier

Well then, all that ends well….

  1. Ah, a big pain. But honestly, you and the electric car have actually had it quite smooth so far! And yes, I always do like to have an atlas in the car, not that you would have had a local map handy in your situation.

    Keep on.
